Power of Sports | Game Changers – Josh Solomon

The GOAT of Charity

We’ve previously profiled how the Oklahoma City Dodgers are impacting OKC through initiatives like their Rookie League program. The initiative is duplicated in every city in America with a minor league baseball team.

But only one of these unique initiatives is honored each year with the John Henry Moss Community Service Award.

Presented to the minor league club who shows an ongoing commitment to charitable service and leadership within their community. the award is named after the man who was the president of the South Atlantic League for a half-century: John Moss.

This year, Josh Solomon’s Hartford Yard Goats became the youngest franchise to ever win the honor.

The team took a 1,300-foot retail space in its space intended for rental and turned it into a community center.

The Aetna Community Center houses the larger-than-life community programs the Yard Goats build and also become a front door to the people of Hartford.
