Spartanburg, South Carolina is the home of Upward Sports.
Since its founding in 1995, the organization has impacted millions of youth across the country by using the combination of the power of sports, athletic facilities at local churches, and programming based on biblical teaching.
Along with amazing sports foundations for nonprofessionals, South Carolina is home to the Boston Red Sox’s Single-A Minor League Baseball affiliate, the Greenville Drive.
And the Drive organization is calling the signals for sports philanthropy in the Palmetto State.
In 2008, the Drive started a reading incentive program called the “Reading All-Stars Program.”
The initiative program is a proven reading incentive program designed to promote reading enjoyment and academic success among the youth.
With help from the professional athletes, the reading program succeeds through the excitement and appeal of Greenville Drive baseball.
Since its inception, the program is nearing a milestone of having nine hundred thousand students participate in its curriculum.
Amongst that group, over two hundred thousand children in South Carolina became “Reading All-Stars.”
