Since 2012, Tommy Noble of Cimarron Construction has helped Fields & Futures rebuild 30 athletic fields for Oklahoma City Public Schools. But he knows he’s not just building fields, he’s building opportunities.
Each show airs monthly on FOX Sports Southwest and participating FOX Sports regional networks. Check local listings for availability and show times.
In Oklahoma City, Fields & Futures is on a mission to rebuild 42 athletic fields across OKC’s inner city school district, Oklahoma City Public Schools.
With 30 of those fields already completed, Fields & Futures has proven that the opportunity to play sports changes lives.
But the lives changed aren’t just those of the student-athletes who get to play on new fields. They are those of the people who build the fields, too.
Cimarron Construction in Oklahoma City has belonged to Tommy Noble’s family for five generations.
But it wasn’t until being contacted by Fields & Futures that he realized how far into disrepair the athletic fields had fallen at some Oklahoma City schools. Some of the schools were practically in his backyard.
You can’t believe what you’re standing on is called an athletic field.
Since 2012, the family-owned company has helped Fields & Futures rebuild each of the 30 fields it has completed to date.
Most people wouldn’t expect a lifelong construction worker who spends much of his day moving earth to get emotional. Those same people probably haven’t felt the eyes of an entire school on them.
Eyes that can’t believe a new field is being built just for them. Eyes that are full of hope because they will finally have a team and a facility. They recognize they do have a reason to stay in school.
Those kids’ eyes are enough to make even the most weathered laborer sweat out of his.
When Tommy Noble says this is what he’s always wanted to do, you get the sense he’s not just talking about construction. He’s talking about building opportunities.
